Novel Study

Kia Ora Bloggers,

Today I am going to talk about our novel study. So for the past 2 weeks we have been reading novels. And have been writing what we have learned about the book. We have had to draw the main character and the title page.  We have many things to do like describe the character and what their personality is. Also read another book and compare it like the similarities and differences. Here is a link to my novel study.

2022 Reflection

Kia ora bloggers,

Today I am going to share a reflection of 2022.  The event that I probably remember the most is camp. I think I remember camp the most because It was my first time scuba diving and I got to be roommates with my friends. Camp was also the best envent I have enjoyed because it had nice food and we got dessert every night. Also because of how scared I would get sometimes. The subject I think I have most improved on is reading because my reading level last year was 10-10.5. And now it is 12.5-13.  Reading is also my favorite subject because I got to read fun books like buttons mcginty which is a book from Rhys Darby. New Friends I have made this year is Phat who was new to are school and another friend is Pedro. The responsibilities I have had this year is leadership,Compost and Sports room. What I thought of the responsibilities was that they were fun and cool. Something I would like to share about 2022 is that this was the best year out of all my years, because of how it was was the most fun.

Parihaka

Hello bloggers,

Today I am going to talk about Parihaka. So Parihaka is a village that protested peacefully. And they wore a feathers as a sign of peace. The way that Parihaka would protest is, they would grab the pegs out of the grass. That would mark the land that is about to be sold. Martin Luther King was also inspired by Parihaka.  So yesterday we were making a headband to wear today. First we had to measure our head to see were we do the patterns up to. Then we had to do was sketch out patterns with a pencil. Once we finished we had to show the teacher and then they would say to use the marker to over line it. And also try not to smudge it while over lining it. Which was really hard. After that we went to the teacher and they cut off a piece and then we taped both sides together and went to the other teacher. And they gave us 1 2 or 3 feathers and then we had to put them together but also not to close. And then we taped it on. Here is a picture of what it looks like. Bye bloggers.

Black Ferns

Kia ora bloggers,

Today I am going to talk about the Black Ferns. I don’t think that is  very good that the all blacks game starts 40 minutes before the women’s game, Because It is the quarter final for the Black ferns and people are going to probably want to watch the all blacks game but then also watch the black ferns game. Some people might even try to watch both at the same time. And it would ruin both games. And I think they should move the game time of the all blacks game because their world cup has already finished and it is less important in my opinion. The game is on the 29th of October starting at 7:15 PM. And they are Versing Wales at Northland Events Stadium. My cousin Sylvia Brunt is one of the youngest people to play in the Black Ferns.  Here is a link to a rugby website. And another one to a photo and a video.

Wonderful Trip to the Museum

Kia oro bloggers,

On Tuesday the 18th, The whole senior syndicate got to go to the Auckland Museum. To learn about volcanoes.

My favorite part out of the museum was the volcano room, where you got to sit there and watch news as it says rangitoto is now active. And there is a second tv where it is recording Rangitoto erupting then the whole room starts to shake. But it only starts to shake for 10 seconds each time. But it was really cool because they even had fake news. Outside of that had different rocks that you could lift and facts about them. There was other artifacts like suit they used to wear if they went in extreme heat. One weird thing was a real person sitting on the ground covered in ash. When we finished we went to the pacific artifacts where we had to find some artifacts and discover facts about them. They were in different types of  islands to see them. Once you found them you had finished.

See you later and check out my slides.

Walk on the beach

    • Kia Ora bloggers,
    • So today I am talking about going to the beach at camp. All of the year 6s went to Moirs Point camp in Mangawhai. So last Thursday, we were at the beach. And started walking along the beach. While walking we saw so many shells in the same place and some of them you could put on your fingers like rings. We stayed there for a while waiting for people to walk faster, we could hear the waves crashing into the rocks. They sounded as loud as thunder. Then we started walking along the beach and found so many rock pools.
    • So we decided to put our bags there and see what’s in the pool. We were inspecting the area when we found a rockpool that had heaps of kina with tiny fish that were only 1 centimetre. After  a long time we went on a hike up the mountains. It was really tiring going up it. Once we got to the top we got to get a good view of the whole beach. Then we continued walking on the path and once we got really far everyone was running out of water so we walked back and had lunch.
    • We started walking back and  then we found the sand dunes, so we went up and then we waited for people to get up. Once everyone was up we got to run down them. I was really dizzy after that. Soon we walked back to the bus to grab our togs and went to swim in the water. I felt cold after a few minutes then  it started getting hot. We were swimming for 30 minutes then we hopped out and then got changed. And left to go back to camp.  Overall it was a great day anit challenged me a lot.

Reported speech

Hello bloggers,

Today I am writing about my wednesday writing task. It is about reported speech, Its because we have been looking at speech marks. So then Ms Mcgrath told us about reported speech and told us some examples on the white board. So reported speech is like telling them what they are saying without using speech marks.

And then Ms Mcgrath told us to tell her some. And there were some pictures for us to think about it.  And then they said we could choose are own pictures to put on the slide show or we could choose are own pictures. Then the teacher said that we can go and work on the slide show.

At first it seemed really easy until It got to the balloons. And it was really hard to do because I could not think of an idea for the balloons. I asked my friends for help but they found it hard and I was very frustrated. Until I thought for such a long time, that I thought of an idea.

After that is was not to hard but not to easy. And once I finished I had to do extra until Ms Mcgrath said to stop. Here is a link and a picture. Thanks for reading Please comment if I got anything wrong, Blog you later.

Swimming

  • Hello bloggers,
Today I am writing about swimming at school. So on wednesday and friday we do swimming lessons. And it is really fun so first we get changed. And usually I get changed first.  And then we get in the pool and dolphin dive to the end and back until the teacher says to stop. Then we get in lines on each side and do free style and backstyle. We are put in order the teacher tells us what order. And then  we start to swim at different times.  And sometimes it very cold that I turn numb and I cannot feel my feet or hands. But once I started swimming again. It felt hot and I was very tired.  Most of the times we swim it is hot. But then today I was surprised because it was freezing cold. And then we were put in groups of 4 people, and we raced to the end I came third for the first race then the second race I came second. Then the person who came first had to wait a second so we could swim. It was very fun doing freestyle I was doing so good until  we had to do backstroke and I am not that good at backstroke. But straight after that we had free time and people who wanted to hop out could.

Growth Mindset

Kia ora Bloggers,

We have been looking at Growth mindset in maths. This dojo video is about strengthening your brain. My work called lego slideshow. I struggled with counting the studs a little bit because there was so much and sometimes I counted the same one twice. Also I would sometimes  So then I just started counting as slow as I could.
